Riyadh To Host IGF 2024 In December With Over 10,000 Participants From Around The World

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is gearing up to host the 19th United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF 2024) from December 15 to 19, 2024. The event will take place at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh. This significant gathering is anticipated to draw over 10,000 attendees from 160 nations and more than 1,000 international speakers.

IGF Riyadh 2024 will be conducted under the theme "Innovating Together, Shaping Tomorrow." It will focus on four main pillars: harnessing innovation while managing digital risks, enhancing digital contributions to peace and sustainability, advancing human rights and inclusion in the digital age, and improving governance for a desirable internet.

The forum aims to foster a shared understanding of leveraging global internet opportunities while addressing potential challenges. It seeks to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and align with Saudi Arabia's strategic directions for its Digital Government. Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Alswaha highlighted that IGF Riyadh 2024 provides a global platform for promoting international digital cooperation among governments, private sectors, non-profits, entrepreneurs, and innovators in the AI era. He stated that it offers a unique opportunity to cultivate new ideas fostering economic growth worldwide.

The forum is organized with participation from various Saudi entities including the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST), King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), and the Digital Government Authority (DGA). The event will feature approximately 300 specialized sessions and workshops.
