Riyadh Hosts Global Ministerial Meeting On Human Capability Development And AI Literacy
The Human Capability Initiative (HCI) Conference's second edition began in Riyadh, featuring a ministerial roundtable on human capability development. This event, held at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center, was organised by the Human Capability Development Program (HCDP), part of Saudi Vision 2030. His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, patronised the conference under the theme "Beyond Readiness."
The closed-door meeting focused on "AI Literacy for All: Promoting Equitable Access for Resilient Capabilities." It brought together 20 ministers from various countries, alongside international experts in education and technology. Representatives from key organisations such as the Education and Training Evaluation Commission, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, the World Bank, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development also participated.

Discussions at the roundtable highlighted the significance of digital skills in enhancing human capabilities. Participants emphasised empowering individuals and institutions to adapt to economic and digital changes. They discussed developing national strategies to advance digital education and incorporate AI skills into educational curricula.
International collaboration was deemed crucial for creating scalable solutions that ensure equitable access to AI technologies and digital training. The sharing of best practices and global expertise was also stressed as vital for progress in this area.
At the meeting's conclusion, participating ministers agreed to issue a joint statement outlining key insights and recommendations. These included integrating fundamental AI concepts into national curricula and promoting initiatives supporting continuous learning in AI-related fields.
The statement also called for strengthening international cooperation and resource-sharing to expand global access to AI skills and technologies. This collaborative approach aims to ensure that all nations can benefit from advancements in AI literacy.
The conference underscored the importance of equipping people with digital skills necessary for future challenges. By fostering international partnerships, it seeks to create a more inclusive environment where everyone can access AI education and resources.
