Riyadh Film Music Festival Launches With Live Orchestral Performances And Iconic Film Screenings
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has kicked off the second annual Riyadh Film Music Festival at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University's Red Hall. The event, which runs until August 9, is drawing a large crowd of musicians, directors, filmmakers, and enthusiasts from both Saudi Arabia and abroad.
This year's festival coincides with the Esports World Cup in Riyadh. This alignment is part of RCRC's strategy to boost cultural and artistic activities in line with Saudi Vision 2030. The festival aims to enhance appreciation for film music through unique artistic experiences.

Attendees were treated to a live orchestral performance on the opening night. This performance combined visuals and soundtracks from some of the world's most renowned films. The festival also features screenings of four international films: Top Gun: Maverick, Pirates of the Caribbean, Back to the Future, and The Lion King.
During these screenings, live music performances accompany the films. This setup offers a distinctive atmosphere that highlights music's role in cinematic storytelling. Such an approach allows audiences to rediscover how music enhances film narratives.
The festival showcases live orchestral renditions of famous compositions. These include "He’s a Pirate" from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Alan Silvestri’s score from Back to the Future, and Hans Zimmer’s iconic work from The Lion King.
This initiative by RCRC aims to enrich cultural and entertainment options in Riyadh. It seeks to position the city as a global centre for arts and culture while providing residents and visitors with diverse artistic experiences.
The festival not only celebrates film music but also supports various art forms. It aligns with broader efforts to establish Riyadh as a vibrant cultural hub under Saudi Vision 2030.
