Rixos Murjana Resort Inaugurated By Tourism Minister At KAEC
Rixos Murjana Resort in King Abdullah Economic City has opened to guests, marking a new stage for tourism projects in Saudi Arabia. The all-inclusive resort is positioned to attract visitors from across the Kingdom and abroad, with a focus on family stays and leisure activities.
Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tourism Development Fund Ahmed Al-Khateeb led the official inauguration. The event highlighted that major projects supported by the Tourism Development Fund are now entering full operation and are ready to receive domestic and international visitors.

The Tourism Development Fund enabled the Rixos Murjana Resort in its role as investor and financier. Emaar, the Economic City, the master developer of King Abdullah Economic City, participated as an investor. FTG Development Co served as the project developer, working alongside Rixos Hotels on the destination’s implementation.
The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of Tourism Development Fund CEO Qusai bin Abdullah Al-Fakhri and Rixos Hotels Chairman Fettah Tamince. Their attendance underlined the scale of cooperation between public and private partners in building large tourism assets within King Abdullah Economic City.
The resort was designed as a comprehensive family destination offering integrated leisure experiences. It provides 488 rooms and suites with different views of the sea, along with 33 villas. Facilities include a fully equipped fitness centre, a sports complex, and spaces prepared for meetings, conferences, and other organised events.

Murjana Waterpark, located within Rixos Murjana Resort, is described as the first fully integrated hotel water park in Saudi Arabia. It features 11 different water attractions. The park is intended to strengthen the resort’s appeal to families seeking varied activities in one coastal location.
Ahmed Al-Khateeb said that the opening of Rixos Murjana Resort is an important step in developing distinctive tourism destinations in Saudi Arabia. The minister explained that the project demonstrates the Tourism Development Fund’s role in turning investments into concrete destinations that raise quality of life and broaden family tourism choices.
The project is expected to create 250 jobs for Saudi nationals, highlighting its developmental impact alongside tourism growth. According to the minister, such projects in King Abdullah Economic City support the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 by diversifying tourism offerings and enhancing the capacity to welcome visitors from inside and outside the Kingdom.
