Richard Mille AlUla Desert Polo Tournament Set For January 17-18, 2025 In Saudi Arabia

The Richard Mille AlUla Desert Polo tournament is set to return to AlUla from January 17 to 18, 2025. This event, the first of its kind in the desert, promises a grand celebration of sport, culture, and equestrian heritage. Organised by the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) alongside the Saudi Polo Federation, it will take place at the picturesque AlFursan Equestrian Village.

Richard Mille continues as the title sponsor, highlighting its dedication to excellence in sports and events. The tournament will feature a mix of world-class polo, history, and glamour. It is a key event on Saudi Arabia’s sports and social calendar. The event will see top global polo players compete, including Argentine star Adolfo Cambiaso and his children Adolfo "Poroto" Cambiaso and Mia Cambiaso.

Joining them are other renowned players like Nacho Figueras, known as the "David Beckham of polo," and Pablo Mac Donough. The tournament will also welcome more professional female players following their debut in 2024. Six teams will compete over two days for the prestigious Desert Polo trophy. Each team consists of a professional player, an international patron, and a dignitary.

The Chief Sports Officer at RCU, Ziad AlSuhaibani, remarked on the significance of this tournament: "This tournament has become a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s sports and social calendar, showcasing the unique blend of tradition and modernity that defines our region." He emphasised its role in promoting equestrian sports while aligning with Saudi Vision 2030's cultural tourism goals.

Since its inception in 2020, Richard Mille AlUla Desert Polo has established itself as a major event in Saudi Arabia’s sports scene. It has positioned AlUla as an international polo destination. The 2025 edition expects royalty, celebrities, and polo enthusiasts at AlFursan Equestrian Village for an exciting mix of sport and entertainment.

Beyond polo matches, the event offers family-friendly entertainment with interactive games for kids and live music creating a lively atmosphere. A variety of food and beverages will be available to enhance the experience. This tournament is part of the AlUla Moments 2024/25 calendar which includes Winter at Tantora, the AlUla Tour cycling race, and the AlUla Trail Race.

The calendar also features events celebrating Saudi Arabia's heritage like the AlFursan Endurance Cup equestrian competition. These events aim to boost cultural tourism while offering world-class sporting experiences within the Kingdom.
