The Roads General Authority (RGA) has made notable progress in enhancing road quality and safety since launching its road sector strategy 500 days ago. This strategy focuses on safety, quality, and traffic management. By establishing policies, standards, and procedures for the road sector, the authority has achieved significant milestones.

Among its achievements, RGA opened a regional office for the International Road Assessment Program (IRAP) to boost international cooperation in road safety. The authority completed the world's largest road safety survey, confirming that over 77% of Saudi Arabia's roads now meet rigorous safety standards. Additionally, RGA set up a road safety data centre to collect and analyse accident data and develop effective plans to reduce accidents.

RGA Boosts Saudi Road Safety

RGA has improved Saudi Arabia's road infrastructure significantly. The country's road quality index reached 5.7, placing it among the top five G20 nations in this field. By adopting performance-based maintenance contracts and advanced bridge management systems, RGA ensures the longevity and safety of the country’s road network.

The authority has excelled in project execution with a road projects completion rate exceeding 90%. This underscores the strategy's effectiveness in achieving objectives and enhancing Saudi Arabia's global position as a key logistics hub. RGA aims to secure a top-six global ranking in road quality, reduce road fatality rates, and increase private sector involvement in road operations.

RGA is focused on implementing road safety measures across the network according to IRAP specifications while carrying out advanced services to enhance the road network's capacity. These efforts are part of a broader goal to improve overall traffic management and ensure safer travel for all users.

Furthermore, by setting policies, standards, and procedures for the road sector, RGA has achieved notable milestones. The authority's commitment to improving infrastructure is evident through its various initiatives aimed at enhancing both quality and safety on Saudi roads.

The establishment of a regional office for IRAP signifies RGA's dedication to international cooperation in improving road safety standards. This move not only benefits Saudi Arabia but also contributes to global efforts in reducing traffic-related incidents.

In conclusion, RGA's comprehensive approach to improving road quality and safety has positioned Saudi Arabia as a leader among G20 nations. The authority continues to strive towards higher standards and better infrastructure through strategic planning and effective implementation of policies.
