Red Sea International Airport Marks Inaugural Flynas Flight From Dammam Enhancing Regional Connectivity

Red Sea Global (RSG) recently celebrated the arrival of the first flynas flight from Dammam’s King Fahd International Airport to Red Sea International Airport (RSI). This marks the first direct link between the Eastern Region and The Red Sea destination. The flights will run twice weekly, on Thursdays and Saturdays, enhancing connectivity for visitors to The Red Sea and nearby areas.

Since September 2023, guests have been welcomed at five top-tier resorts in The Red Sea destination. Domestic flights have been regularly scheduled to RSI. In 2024, RSI achieved a significant milestone by receiving its inaugural international flight from Dubai International Airport. This development is part of a broader strategy to boost tourism in the region.

flynas Launches First Flight to Red Sea Airport

RSI is strategically located within a three-hour flight for 250 million people and an eight-hour flight for 85% of the global population. Once fully operational, RSI will be powered entirely by renewable energy. This energy comes from extensive solar farms featuring 760,500 photovoltaic panels and one of the largest off-grid Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) worldwide.

Currently, all airside operations at RSI are powered by renewable energy. This includes essential infrastructure such as Airfield Ground Lighting, Instrument Landing System, meteorological facilities, and various mechanical systems. These initiatives underscore RSG's commitment to sustainable development in tourism.

The Red Sea destination is set for significant expansion by 2030. Plans include developing 50 resorts with up to 8,000 hotel rooms and over 1,000 residential units across 22 islands and six inland sites. Additionally, luxury marinas, golf courses, diverse dining options, and entertainment facilities will be featured to attract tourists globally.

The introduction of flynas flights complements existing services from Riyadh and Jeddah. It enhances accessibility to The Red Sea destination within Saudi Arabia. This increased connectivity supports RSG's vision of making The Red Sea a premier tourist hub.

The project aims to position itself as a leader in regenerative tourism by integrating sustainability into its core operations. By harnessing renewable energy sources and expanding its offerings, RSG seeks to create a unique travel experience that aligns with global environmental goals.
