Red Sea Global Launches Community Volunteer Initiative For Mangrove Planting On International Mangrove Day

Red Sea Global has initiated a volunteer programme to celebrate International Mangrove Day. This effort aims to protect coastal ecosystems and involve Red Sea communities in sustainability initiatives. The event took place at the Mangrove Park near Shura Island Bridge, attracting over 100 volunteers from local communities and the hospitality sector.

Raed Albasseet, Group Chief Environment and Sustainability Officer at Red Sea Global, highlighted the significance of this initiative. He stated: "This initiative is a living embodiment of the regenerative tourism approach we believe in—one that is not limited to environmental protection, but extends to empowering the surrounding communities. Mangrove trees are among the most effective ecosystems for carbon absorption, and their protection is a core part of our environmental strategy."

The event also marked the official launch of Red Sea Global’s Volunteer Program. This strategic initiative aims to empower Red Sea communities by fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and enabling specialized volunteerism. The programme encourages community involvement in regenerative projects and seeks to build local capacities.

Representatives from the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification attended the event. They are strategic partners with Red Sea Global in rehabilitating natural habitats and enhancing coastal vegetation. Their presence underscores the collaborative efforts needed to achieve these environmental goals.

The volunteer programme aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and Red Sea Global’s principle: "From People to Planet." It aims to strengthen partnerships with the nonprofit sector while enhancing community engagement in sustainability projects.

This initiative was activated through "Jewar," an interactive platform by Red Sea Global designed to improve communication with surrounding communities. By using this platform, they aim to foster stronger connections and encourage active participation in environmental conservation efforts.
