Red Sea Global Unveils Botanica: A New Environmental Nursery For Sustainable Development
Red Sea Global (RSG), the developer of the Red Sea and AMAALA destinations, has introduced Botanica, an environmental nursery in Saudi Arabia. This green oasis is dedicated to growing sustainable and climate-resilient plants. It combines advanced agricultural technologies with a vision for restoring natural ecosystems in the Red Sea region and beyond.
Botanica covers over 1.8 million square meters, making it the largest nursery in the region focused on ornamental plants and landscape design. The nursery is a key part of RSG’s commitment to integrating nature into development projects and setting a sustainability benchmark.

The nursery aims to enrich Saudi Arabia's biodiversity by cultivating native, drought-resistant plants and transforming arid land into lush green spaces. John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global, emphasized that Botanica is more than just a nursery; it is a strategic initiative to revive the Kingdom’s biodiversity through eco-friendly agricultural practices.
Since its operations began in 2020, Botanica has produced over 7 million plants for landscaping at the Red Sea and AMAALA destinations. The goal is to reach 30 million plants by 2030. Each plant species undergoes thorough evaluation to ensure compatibility with local ecosystems.
Approximately 400 people work at Botanica, with 25 percent hailing from the Red Sea region. This reflects RSG's dedication to sustainable development and empowering local communities. Besides supplying plants for RSG's tourism projects, Botanica also supports landscaping initiatives across Saudi Arabia.
Starting soon, Botanica will welcome visitors to experience its beauty and natural environment through interactive experiences. These include guided tours showcasing various plant species and cultivation techniques, planting workshops that help expand green spaces, a café offering nature-inspired meals, a garden shop, and a petting zoo featuring local animals.
