Red Sea Global Establishes Its First Health And Safety Training Academy For Workers
The Red Sea Global (RSG) has launched its first Health and Safety Training Academy after a successful pilot phase that trained 1,000 workers. This academy provides free training to RSG's workforce, partners, and contractors, enhancing essential construction skills and safety capabilities. The training aligns with top international safety standards, certified by organizations like Highfield, IOSH, and NEBOSH.
RSG's Group Head of Health and Safety, John Dunne, stated that the academy aims to set the standard for health and safety training in Saudi Arabia. "By ensuring exemplary safety protocols across all RSG's developments, the academy aims to become the benchmark institution for health and safety training for Saudi Arabia and beyond," he said.

A distinctive feature of the academy is its emphasis on practical training with a construction theme. This approach is unique in Saudi Arabia, using vivid simulations to illustrate the real consequences of safety violations. The curriculum prioritizes practical and visual learning over traditional classroom methods.
The facility includes modern indoor classrooms, outdoor training stations, and specialized safety areas. Trainees gain critical safety competencies through a blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience. Equipment such as scaffolding, walking work platforms, gantry cranes, confined space chambers, and CPR facilities are available for skill development.
RSG recently achieved IOSH accreditation, marking a significant step in its commitment to safety excellence. As an approved partner and licensed provider of the IOSH Working Safely course in English and Hindi, RSG equips its workforce with vital safety skills. "Our recent IOSH accreditation marks a significant milestone in RSG's commitment to safety excellence," Dunne added.
This partnership with IOSH underscores RSG's dedication to fostering a safe work environment across all projects. The IOSH Working Safely course focuses on hazard mitigation and helps workers understand the importance of safe practices.
Significant Safety Milestones
Last year, RSG achieved notable milestones in health and safety. On Shura Island, which will open this year, they reached 10 million hours worked without a Lost Time Injury (LTI). Similarly, Shebara Resort recorded 11 million hours without an LTI since starting operations in October 2024.
RSG now holds an official license to deliver IOSH Working Safety Training in both English and Hindi. This authorization followed IOSH's thorough review of RSG's standards and facilities. Conducting these sessions internally enhances RSG's training quality by reducing reliance on external providers.
The academy not only supports RSG’s projects but also aims to elevate health and safety standards across Saudi Arabia. By providing comprehensive training that meets international benchmarks, it contributes significantly to developing a robust culture of workplace safety.
