Red Sea Global Receives PADI Certification For Disability-Friendly Diving Centers
In a significant step towards inclusivity, the Red Sea Global has been recognized with the prestigious PADI classification for its diving centers, marking a first in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This accolade is not just a testament to the organization's commitment to accessibility but also positions it as a pioneer in offering diving experiences tailored for persons with disabilities.
Rosanna Chopra, Executive Director of Destination Development at Red Sea Global, highlighted the importance of this achievement. She noted that PADI stands as the world's foremost organization in ocean exploration and diving. The collaboration between Red Sea Global and PADI aims to foster a community of a billion individuals passionate about exploring and safeguarding our oceans. Achieving the PADI certification required stringent adherence to standards in infrastructure, logistics, communication, training, and safety measures. Each center had to ensure comprehensive accessibility, including trained personnel proficient in disability-adjusted techniques, wheelchair-friendly facilities, and boats designed to enhance the diving experience for all.

The certification heralds a new era for Red Sea Global, enabling it to offer unparalleled diving experiences to a broader audience. Currently, Red Sea Global boasts two 5-star diving centers accredited by PADI: Nujuma Diving Center at the Ritz-Carlton Reserve and Turtle Bay Dive Center located in the employees' city. Both centers are operated by Galaxea, a subsidiary of Red Sea Global dedicated to providing exceptional diving experiences at ambitious destinations.
To secure the PADI certification, trainers from Galaxea underwent an intensive three-day program encompassing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in swimming pools and open water settings. The training was designed to simulate conditions of limited mobility and visual impairment through the use of mesh swimming gloves and darkened masks. This immersive approach equipped the trainers with the necessary skills to guide divers with disabilities effectively and to teach other divers how to assist those with disabilities during dives.
This initiative by Red Sea Global not only broadens the scope of who can enjoy the mesmerizing underwater world but also underscores a commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in recreational activities. With these certified centers, Red Sea Global is set to welcome divers from all walks of life, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to explore the beauty beneath the waves.
