Red Sea Film Festival Project Market Concludes With Awards For Emerging Filmmakers
The Red Sea Souk Project Market concluded with an awards ceremony celebrating projects in various stages of filmmaking. This event, part of the fifth Red Sea International Film Festival, attracted filmmakers and producers from Saudi Arabia and beyond. The awards included grants, technical support, and opportunities for international professional programs aimed at nurturing young talent.
Red Sea Film Foundation CEO Faisal Baltyuor noted the market's growing global presence, highlighting a significant increase in participation compared to last year. This year's edition featured 166 entities across 90 pavilions, showcasing new projects from both emerging and established creators.

Managing Director Shivani Pandya Malhotra emphasized that this year's winners represent some of the most creative talents from the Arab world, Africa, and Asia. These projects are shaping cinema's future in these regions. Many winning projects have reached audiences worldwide, affirming ongoing support for innovative film projects through a comprehensive ecosystem.
The Red Sea Souk highlighted 40 selected feature-length films and series. Financial support was provided at various stages, including development, production, and post-production. Special assistance was also available through The Lodge and SeriesLab programs.
The Red Sea Fund supported ten awards granted by the jury: two for production projects, six for development projects, and two for series projects. Cash and in-kind prizes were also offered by international award partners within the film industry.
The Project Market is a key initiative of the festival, fostering a vibrant film production environment. It supports content development pipelines and creates collaboration opportunities among filmmakers. This initiative reinforces Saudi Arabia's position as a regional cinema hub while promoting talent internationally.
