E-Service For Real-Time Occupancy Enhances Crowd Management At Prophet's Mosque
In a move to enhance the experience of worshippers during the holy month of Ramadan, the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Prophet's Mosque has introduced a real-time occupancy e-service. This innovative service is designed to assist worshippers in avoiding overcrowded areas within the mosque by providing up-to-the-minute information on congestion levels. Accessible through smartphones and the authority's official website, this tool is a testament to the authority's commitment to leveraging technology for better crowd management.
Now in its third year, the e-service covers 12 specific locations at the Prophet's Mosque, including its courtyards, eastern, western, and northern expansions, as well as the roof. Importantly, it also encompasses areas designated for women’s prayers on both the eastern and western sides of the mosque. By visiting the link: eserv.wmn.gov.sa/e-services/prayers_map, worshippers can view real-time updates on congestion levels at these sites. This enables them to make informed decisions on where to pray, particularly during peak times when the mosque experiences high volumes of visitors.

The introduction of this e-service is part of a broader strategy by the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Prophet's Mosque to manage crowds effectively during Ramadan and other high seasons. By directing worshippers to less congested areas, the authority aims not only to improve the overall prayer experience but also to ensure safety and comfort for all visitors. This initiative reflects a thoughtful integration of technology into religious practices, ensuring that worshippers can fulfill their spiritual duties with peace and convenience.
The real-time occupancy e-service is a clear indication of how technology can be harnessed to address practical challenges faced by religious institutions. As this service enters its third consecutive year, it stands as a model for other religious sites worldwide on how to manage large crowds while preserving the sanctity and tranquility of spiritual experiences.
