Enhancing Pilgrimage: RCMC's Plan For Hajj Season

The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites (RCMC) has unveiled its comprehensive plan to enhance the Hajj experience for pilgrims this season. The announcement includes a series of projects aimed at upgrading the infrastructure, improving transportation, and promoting correct practices for performing Hajj rituals.

Central to RCMC's initiative is the development of the infrastructure at the holy sites and an overhaul of the transportation system services. This includes the significant project on the northern part of the Third Ring Road in Makkah, stretching 7.5km to link Madinah Road with the Jamarat facility. Designed to streamline pilgrim travel, the road boasts three main lanes capable of supporting speeds up to 100 km/h, alongside two service lanes in each direction, numerous entrances and exits for surrounding neighborhoods, and eight bridges and ramps totaling 2.2km.

The RCMC has also focused on connecting various axes on the First Ring Road with key projects such as the Masar Destination Project and Jabal Omar Project, alongside expansions and improvements to Prince Mohammed bin Salman Road, Ajyad Road, and routes to the Grand Mosque. An innovative transportation route has been introduced to carry pilgrims from their accommodations to the Grand Mosque, aiming to manage the density of pilgrims effectively, reduce traffic congestion, and restrict irregular transportation. This route is expected to cater to approximately 74 million passengers.

Additionally, the commission has introduced three dedicated pathways for electric scooters, marking a novel approach to facilitate pilgrim movement between holy sites. The paths, each about 1.2 kilometers long and 25 meters wide, are located at the Muzdalifah - Mina path and along the western and eastern pedestrian roads to the Jamarat facility.

Highlighting technological advancements, the RCMC shed light on the Adahi Project, a pioneering national initiative that stands as the world's largest industrial refrigeration project for sacrificial animals, boasting a capacity exceeding one million heads. Remarkably, the project incorporates AI technology to count sacrificial animals, achieving an impressive rate of 30 animals numbered per minute.

In an effort to enhance the spiritual and practical aspects of the pilgrimage, the RCMC has also focused on the rehabilitation of the spatial Miqats for Ihram. This is complemented by a comprehensive awareness campaign broadcast across multimedia and social media platforms, aimed at educating pilgrims on the best practices during Hajj and maximizing the benefits of their spiritual journey.

Through these projects and initiatives, the RCMC aims not only to facilitate a smoother pilgrimage experience but also to elevate the quality of services provided to the guests of God, ensuring that their spiritual journey remains as fulfilling and efficient as possible.
