Rashid Al Dhaheri Secures Double Victory At Yas Marina Circuit

Emirati racing driver Rashid Al Dhaheri has moved to the top of the Formula Regional Middle East Trophy standings after a dominant weekend at Yas Marina Circuit. Al Dhaheri claimed two wins in Round 2, completing three victories in seven days, ahead of Round 3 at Dubai Autodrome next weekend.

The results continue momentum from 18th January, when Al Dhaheri became the first Formula Regional race winner from the MENA region. Returning to Yas Marina Circuit with R-ace GP in a YasHeat-liveried Tatuus T-326, Al Dhaheri raced on home soil again, this time in front of larger local support and with championship pressure growing.

Al Dhaheri seals double win at Yas Marina

Al Dhaheri topped free practice on Friday before securing second on the grid for Race 1. A quick launch allowed Al Dhaheri to grab the lead into the opening corner. Despite several interruptions, Al Dhaheri controlled the pace, crossed the line first, and set the race’s fastest lap to open the weekend strongly.

"To win three races in seven days, all on my home track, is something I will never forget. Racing here in front of my family and the fans who have supported me since the beginning makes this incredibly special. I am proud to represent my country and grateful to my team and supporters."

The final home event, Race 3, saw Al Dhaheri start again from second position. Al Dhaheri took the lead at Turn 1 and stayed ahead for 28 minutes plus one lap. Another fastest lap secured a second victory of the weekend and strengthened the title campaign in front of home spectators at Yas Marina Circuit.

Race 2 delivered a different challenge because of the reverse-grid format, which placed Al Dhaheri 12th on the starting grid. An aggressive early phase brought progress, but a setup issue then hampered pace and dropped Al Dhaheri outside the points. Across the event, Al Dhaheri still set a new Corkscrew layout record at Yas Marina Circuit with a 1:40.480 lap.

These combined results, including three wins in seven days and strong speed across all sessions, place Al Dhaheri at the head of the Formula Regional Middle East Trophy standings. The performances at Yas Marina Circuit underline consistent form as attention now turns to Dubai Autodrome, where Round 3 will further test the developing championship battle.
