Ras Al Khaimah Celebrates Record-Breaking Year With 1.28 Million Visitors In 2024
Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) celebrated a record-breaking year in 2024, welcoming 1.28 million overnight visitors. This achievement marked a 12% rise in tourism revenue and a 15% increase in MICE visitors. The Emirate's strategic vision aims to attract over 3.5 million annual visitors by 2030, reflecting its commitment to sustainable growth.
The Emirate's hospitality sector saw significant expansion with the opening of Sofitel Al Hamra Beach Resort and Anantara Mina Al Arab Resort, introducing luxury experiences like the first overwater villas. These developments have enhanced Ras Al Khaimah's appeal as a premium destination for travellers seeking unique experiences.

Raki Phillips, CEO of RAKTDA, remarked on the success of 2024, stating, "2024 was a milestone year for Ras Al Khaimah, showcasing our commitment to sustainability, enhanced connectivity, and diverse experiences tailored to every traveller. Looking ahead, our vision extends beyond attracting more visitors; we aim to position Ras Al Khaimah as a destination of the future. With significant investments, world-class events, and groundbreaking developments on the horizon, 2025 is set to be another remarkable year."
Several factors contributed to this success in 2024. New hotels and resorts opened their doors, while international events increased connectivity through Ras Al Khaimah International Airport. Over 2,200 international activities across 70 cities were part of best-in-class marketing campaigns.
RAKTDA's sustainability initiatives earned global acclaim when its programme was named 'Middle East's Most Sustainable Project' at the Forbes Middle East 2024 Sustainability Leaders' Summit. The Emirate became the first in the region to receive EarthCheck Sustainable Destinations Silver Certification.
Initiatives like Responsible RAK further highlight this commitment by offering certification for hotels and tourism businesses that adhere to sustainable practices. These efforts underscore Ras Al Khaimah's leadership in sustainable tourism development.
Enhanced Connectivity and Global Reach
The introduction of direct flights from cities such as Poland, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Romania, Czech Republic, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and India has significantly improved access to Ras Al Khaimah. These new routes have made it easier for global travellers to visit the Emirate.
Ras Al Khaimah also strengthened its reputation as an event hub with highlights like the third HIGHLANDER Adventure hiking challenge and the Ras Al Khaimah Golf Championship. The Arab Aviation Summit and Global Citizen Forum were hosted for the fourth consecutive year.
Award-Winning Workplace Culture
For four years running, RAKTDA has been recognised as a Great Place to Work. It received accolades in categories such as 'Best Workplaces in the Middle East', 'Best Workplaces in Hospitality in the GCC', and 'Best Workplaces for Women in the GCC'.
The Emirate continues diversifying its reach into established markets like CIS, GCC, Europe, India and China while exploring emerging ones. China has become a key growth market with strategic collaborations enhancing visibility on platforms like WeChat and Douyin.
MICE Sector Growth
The MICE sector experienced impressive growth with a 15% increase in visitor numbers compared to last year. This success is due to strategic initiatives by RAKTDA involving over 80 international MICE activities across 20 markets.
This balanced approach ensures growth without compromising culture or sustainability goals. Ras Al Khaimah ranks among top cities for expats according to InterNations City Ranking 2024.
Cultural Initiatives and Local Talent Development
