Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival 2023: Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Opens Cultural Event Celebrating Global Artistic Talent
H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, emphasised the emirate's commitment to cultural enrichment through the Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival. This event aims to position the region as a global centre for creativity and artistic talent. The festival, now in its 13th year, is organised by the Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research and takes place at the historic Al Jazirah Al Hamra Heritage Village.
The festival's theme this year is 'Memory,' and it will run until February 28, showcasing over 100 artists from both local and international backgrounds. During the inauguration, notable attendees included Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi, Minister of Culture; Martina Strong, U.S. Ambassador to the UAE; Edward Hobart, British Ambassador to the UAE; along with other senior officials.
Sheikh Saud remarked that the Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival is a significant event on the cultural calendar of the region. He stated that it embodies the emirate’s rich historical and cultural heritage while celebrating creative minds and diverse art forms. "Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival, a distinguished event on the region’s cultural calendar, embodies the emirate’s rich historical and cultural heritage," he said.
The Ruler highlighted culture as a fundamental aspect of societal progress. It reflects national identity and fosters communication between nations. He also noted that such events contribute significantly to economic growth and tourism while advancing creative industries.
Sheikh Saud stressed the importance of nurturing emerging talent among Emiratis and local communities. He mentioned that supporting artistic potential is a priority for Ras Al Khaimah. "Supporting emerging talent and nurturing artistic potential amongst Emiratis and the local community is a priority for Ras Al Khaimah," he added.
