Advanced Materials Workshop In Ras Al Khaimah Attracts Global Scientists For 17th Edition
The International Workshop on Advanced Materials (IWAM) will return to Ras Al Khaimah from 2nd to 4th February at the Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island. Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the 17th edition will focus on sustainability, energy efficiency and emerging technologies.
The Ras Al Khaimah Centre for Advanced Materials is organising IWAM, which will gather leading specialists from around the world, including two Nobel laureates. Participants will discuss how advanced materials can address environmental resilience, support sustainable development and contribute to new technological applications through lectures, panel discussions and academic exchange.

H.H. Sheikh Saud will deliver the opening keynote address, underlining the importance Ras Al Khaimah places on research and innovation. Over 17 years, IWAM has developed into a respected meeting point for scientists, researchers and academics who share knowledge and examine how materials science can support long-term economic and environmental goals.
A main feature of this year’s International Workshop on Advanced Materials is the fourth Sheikh Saud International Prize for Materials Science, awarded every two years. The 2026 Prize will be awarded to a Nobel laureate, highlighting the Prize’s international standing and Ras Al Khaimah’s role in recognising scientific excellence.
By bringing leading experts together with early-career researchers, the International Workshop on Advanced Materials aims to deepen global cooperation and motivate future scientists. The workshop also supports knowledge that can help build a more sustainable and prosperous future. IWAM is sponsored by Ras Al Khaimah’s Stevin Rock, which has an annual production capacity exceeding 80 million tons.
