Grand Mosque Ramadan Readiness: Prince Saud Inspects Facilities And Smart Services

Deputy Governor of Makkah Region Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz carried out a field tour of the Grand Mosque complex, assessing operational readiness for the large numbers of worshippers and Umrah performers expected during Ramadan, and reviewing how services, facilities, and staff are prepared for peak crowd levels.

During the inspection, Prince Saud received detailed briefings on integrated operational plans drawn up by relevant authorities. These plans cover crowd flow, service delivery, and facility readiness, with a focus on maintaining smooth movement, protecting visitor safety, and supporting worshippers as numbers increase throughout the holy month.

Grand Mosque Ramadan Readiness Inspected

Prince Saud ended the tour at the Smart Engineering Command and Control Center, which links various operational systems into one monitoring platform. The centre tracks performance in real time, supports rapid decision-making when conditions change, and helps maintain high readiness standards for services during the Ramadan season.

The Deputy Governor reviewed digital tools that support visitors, including an interactive map and a digital mobility platform. These systems help worshippers plan routes before arrival, locate services, identify entrances and exits, and choose less crowded paths, aiming to reduce congestion and improve movement inside the Grand Mosque and surrounding areas.

Prince Saud was also briefed on advanced crowd management systems. These include a visitor density sensor platform that measures human density in real time, and the Tawaf and Sa’i crowd status display service, which allows worshippers to choose suitable times for rituals, helping to ease pressure at busy periods.

The tour further covered developmental initiatives and smart services that support operations. Among them are electric mobility carts used to transport elderly visitors, persons with disabilities, and those needing assistance within the Grand Mosque, which help reduce physical strain and make movement easier for beneficiaries during long worship periods.

Prince Saud examined the role of guidance teams deployed across corridors and courtyards of the Grand Mosque. These teams provide multilingual assistance and directions. Models of a modern multilingual guidance system were also presented, showing how information tools and staff work together to support visitors throughout their time in the holy site.

The visit highlighted how physical facilities, guidance teams, smart services, and digital platforms are combined into one operational system at the Grand Mosque. Officials aim to manage heavy Ramadan crowds, support safe and orderly worship, and maintain comfort for visitors through continuous monitoring and coordinated field operations.
