Ras Al Khaimah Intensifies Penalties For Vehicle Seizures To Promote Road Safety

In a recent move to enhance road safety and discipline, the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Police have announced a revision in the penalties associated with the seizure of vehicles for certain traffic violations. This adjustment in fines and seizure periods is set to be implemented starting March 1, aiming to deter motorists from engaging in illegal road activities.

The RAK Police's latest directive outlines increased penalties and vehicle seizure durations for a range of violations. A notable change is seen in the consequences for motorists participating in unauthorised marches or parades, breaching traffic regulations. Such violations will now result in vehicle confiscation for a duration of 15 to 20 days. To expedite the release of their seized vehicles, offenders will be required to pay fines ranging from Dh1,000 to Dh10,000.

Another significant amendment targets individuals driving vehicles without licence plates or with falsified number plates. These offenders will face a vehicle seizure period extended to 120 days. To regain possession of their vehicles before the completion of the seizure period, violators must pay a substantial fine of Dh20,000.

Furthermore, the directive addresses the issue of illegal modifications made to vehicles, specifically those alterations aimed at enhancing speed or noise levels. Vehicles found with such modifications will be impounded for 60 days, with the option for early release available to owners willing to pay a Dh5,000 penalty.

Additionally, the new regulations include penalties for leaving abandoned vehicle parts in unauthorised areas, including both public and private roads. It also outlines specific rules concerning the sale of vehicles in undesignated spots and regulations governing vehicles used for water transportation.

These amendments introduced by the RAK Police signify a robust approach to curbing road violations and promoting a safer driving environment. By imposing stricter penalties and longer vehicle seizure periods, the authorities aim to discourage reckless and unlawful behaviours among motorists, thereby enhancing overall road safety in Ras Al Khaimah.

This initiative reflects the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to address road safety concerns and enforce traffic regulations more effectively.
