RAK International Airport Unveils VVIP Terminal And Private Jet Hangar To Boost Tourism
Ras Al Khaimah International Airport is set to enhance its facilities with a new VVIP terminal and private jet hangar. This development, in collaboration with Falcon Executive Aviation from Alex Group Investment, aims to position the emirate as a key global entertainment and tourism hub. The initiative was unveiled at the Dubai Airshow, marking a significant step towards attracting high-profile travellers to the Northern Emirates.
The project includes a 1,500-square-metre terminal, an 8,000-square-metre multi-purpose hangar, and 9,000 square metres of apron and parking space. Its proximity to Ras Al Khaimah’s beach resorts and the upcoming Wynn Al Marjan Island resort enhances its appeal for private aviation users. The facility will feature a Royal lounge, four VVIP lounges, premium hospitality areas, and a refined environment for discreet travellers.

Sultan Rashit Abdulla Rashit Al Shene, Founder and Chairman of Alex Group Investment, stated that expanding into Ras Al Khaimah aligns with their goal to improve private aviation services across the UAE. He noted that the facility combines luxury with operational capability and sustainability. It complements their existing services at Dubai Al Maktoum’s VIP terminal.
The surrounding airside infrastructure will meet modern private aviation needs with ample aircraft parking, a helipad, and space for emerging vertical mobility solutions. Built to international standards, it will incorporate the Falcon Signature Experience offering privacy and personalised service. The hangar complex supports various private jets including ultra-long-range aircraft.
Sustainability is central to this project. The terminal and hangars aim for LEED Gold certification by offsetting 35% of energy consumption through solar power. They plan to use fully electric ground support equipment and enable sustainable aviation fuel use. These efforts contribute towards achieving net-zero operational emissions.
Eng. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi highlighted that this development marks a milestone in Ras Al Khaimah’s emergence as an international destination. It bolsters its ability to attract high-value visitors and investors while supporting sustainable tourism growth through advanced technology integration.
Economic Impact
The development represents a major investment in Ras Al Khaimah’s aviation sector expected to deliver economic benefits. Located within four hours’ flying time of one-third of the world’s population, it strengthens the emirate's global profile as part of its long-term economic diversification strategy.
Construction is projected to take around 15 months with an opening planned for Q1 2027. This timeline reflects the commitment to establishing Ras Al Khaimah as a premier destination for high-profile travellers seeking luxury travel experiences in the region.
