Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al-Qasimi, who chairs the Department of Civil Aviation and serves as the Honorary President of the Ras Al Khaimah Scout Commission, inaugurated the Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) and Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI) at Zayed Educational Complex in Ras Al Khaimah. These events are recognised as the largest digital and radio Scout gatherings worldwide, promoting friendship and global citizenship.
The Emirates Scout Association, in collaboration with the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM), Ministry of Education, Emirates Amateur Radio Society, and Ras Al Khaimah Scouting Commission, organised this two-day event under the theme "Scouts for a Greener World." It attracted 200 scouts and guides along with 5,000 online participants.

Dr. Salem Abdul Rahman Al Darmaki, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Scouts Association, highlighted that JOTA-JOTI is the world's largest digital Scout event. It occurs annually in October, bringing together over 2 million Scouts for a weekend dedicated to Scouting and friendship. Participants learn about communication technology while connecting with fellow Scouts from more than 174 countries.
Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi commended the efforts behind this global scouting camp held online. He described it as a unique chance for young participants to explore different cultures by interacting with peers from various parts of the world.
The Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) is an annual event that links Scouts globally through amateur radio. This event takes place on the third full weekend of October each year alongside Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI). During these events, Scouts engage in numerous activities and learn about each other's countries.
Thousands of Scouts participate either via internet or amateur radios during these events. They engage in various activities designed to foster understanding and learning about different cultures worldwide.
The initiative provides an exceptional platform for youth to gain insights into diverse cultures while enhancing their knowledge of communication technologies. The event's success underscores its importance in promoting global citizenship among young people.
