Rabdan Academy Launches Unique Programme For Defence And Security Translation Skills Development

Rabdan Academy has introduced a new programme focused on specialised translation in defence and security. This initiative is designed to train national translators in both simultaneous and consecutive translation, specifically for field training in the security and defence sectors. It stands as the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa, offering up to 40 accredited hours recognised within the national qualifications framework.

The programme is available to UAE nationals who meet certain criteria. These include holding a family book, having a bachelor's degree or higher, being aged between 22-40 years, possessing an IELTS score of 6-6.5, completing national service for males, achieving an EmSAT Arabic score of at least 1400, and maintaining a high level of physical fitness.

Eligible participants can be nominated by national entities if they hold a bachelor's degree or higher. Rabdan Academy is an officially accredited training provider by the National Qualifications Centre. The academy allows these entities to nominate their employees based on specific terms and criteria.

The five-month programme includes theoretical courses such as English for military purposes, military language within the UAE context, Arabic translation skills, and exercises in simultaneous and consecutive interpretation within a military framework. Participants will also engage in practical field training by shadowing experienced interpreters to gain hands-on experience in military and security translation.

Dr. Muna Abdulla Balfaqeeh, Director of Vocational Education Affairs at Rabdan Academy, emphasised that this programme supports the integration of advanced technologies in defence and security industries. "It enhances military training by accurately and professionally transferring global experiences," she stated, ensuring confidentiality and privacy are maintained in military contexts.

The programme was developed by Rabdan Academy's Vocational Education Affairs Division to enhance professional capabilities among security and defence personnel. It aims to equip national institutions with highly qualified translators who meet the highest quality standards.
