Quality Of Life Program Showcases Urban Transformation At WUF12 In Cairo Under Saudi Vision 2030

The Quality of Life Program, a key initiative under Saudi Vision 2030, is set to participate in the World Urban Forum (WUF12) in Cairo from November 4 to 8, 2024. The Saudi delegation will be led by Prince Dr. Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Mayor of the Riyadh Region. This event, organised by UN-Habitat, focuses on urban development and sustainability.

The forum's theme, "It All Starts at Home: Local Actions for Sustainable Cities and Communities," aligns with Saudi Arabia's goals. The Quality of Life Program aims to highlight the Kingdom's urban transformations under Vision 2030. These efforts focus on improving residents' quality of life through sustainable urban development and digital transformation.

A panel discussion titled "Putting People First in a Digital Era" will feature the program's participation. This session will explore strategies for developing smart cities that prioritise people's needs. It will also discuss practical approaches and innovative ideas to promote sustainable and inclusive urban development through digital transformation.

The dialogue aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders, emphasising the importance of inclusive urban digital transformation. By engaging various participants, the discussion seeks to ensure that technological advancements benefit all segments of society.

Alongside the forum, an Urban Exhibition will take place featuring discussion sessions and workshops. These events aim to exchange knowledge, build capacities, and network while exploring solutions to urban challenges such as housing, transportation, energy, and climate change.

Khalid Abdullah Al-Bakr, CEO of the Quality of Life Program, expressed enthusiasm about sharing local experiences in achieving comprehensive urban transformation. He stated: "We are pleased to share our local experience in achieving comprehensive urban transformation. People are at the heart of our efforts as we work to build sustainable and resilient cities that contribute to the Kingdom's Vision 2030."

International Collaboration

Al-Bakr further highlighted the significance of international cooperation in sustainable urban development: "We believe that international cooperation is key to achieving sustainable urban development. Our participation in the forum allows us to strengthen collaboration with other countries and exchange experiences and knowledge, contributing to a better future for cities."

The Quality of Life Program has launched over 43 initiatives related to urban design in Saudi cities. These initiatives focus on enhancing infrastructure with modern smart city technologies while incorporating aesthetic elements that reflect regional identities.

Such efforts aim to achieve sustainable urban development by providing essential services that harmonise with each city's unique fabric. By aligning with local identities, these initiatives enhance the overall urban landscape across Saudi Arabia.
