Quality Initiatives And Projects By Two Holy Mosques Authority Enhance Pilgrims' Experience During 1446 AH Hajj Season
The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque introduced various quality initiatives during this year’s Hajj season. These efforts aimed to improve operational efficiency in asset and facility management, ensuring maximum readiness. The goal was to enhance pilgrims' experiences through coordination with relevant authorities, providing smooth and sustainable services.
A key initiative was the trial phase of the Smart Engineering Command and Control Center. This center was designed to improve service quality and support efficient decision-making. Additionally, 12 smart screens were used to display optimal times for Tawaf and Sa’i based on real-time data and performance indicators.

The Zamzam water system saw enhancements, distributing over 293,000 bottles and using more than 12,000 cubic meters of water. Specialized carts were deployed in the Mataf area, with new drinking stations installed across all floors of the Second Saudi Expansion.
To aid mobility, 400 electric carts, 8,000 manual carts, and 12 free-of-charge carts were provided, benefiting over 70,000 pilgrims. Four luggage storage centers and seven collection points at the Grand Mosque’s main entrances served more than 60,000 pilgrims. In collaboration with the Red Crescent, 16 ambulances were deployed to boost emergency medical readiness.
Environmental hygiene was prioritized through carpet sterilization and intensified cleaning of corridors, restrooms, and prayer areas. Central air-conditioning was maintained via 883 cooling units supported by 3,139 ventilation fans and 244 mist fans throughout outdoor courtyards.
Cultural Enrichment Initiatives
To enrich cultural experiences for pilgrims, exhibitions showcased historical aspects of the Two Holy Mosques. Visits to the King Abdulaziz Complex for Kiswa Manufacturing and libraries welcomed over 59,000 visitors. An electronic portal streamlined reservations for exhibitions and library visits.
The Arafah sermon was translated into 35 languages and broadcast through Quran Channel and digital platforms like YouTube. Multi-task field teams facilitated pilgrim movement while responding to emergencies effectively.
Comprehensive Service Delivery
The Presidency ensured site readiness by maintaining electromechanical systems and energy sources. It operated lighting units, elevators, escalators, enhancing rapid response systems for increased safety levels. The Guest Care Center centralized services in one location to assist pilgrims in completing rituals safely.
An initiative with the National Center for Waste Management recycled Ihram fabric into usable products under "Sustainable Ihram." To ensure effective communication during prayers and sermons, 8,000 speakers were distributed across the Grand Mosque.
The General Presidency continues its commitment to delivering integrated services at the Prophet’s Mosque with high quality and efficiency. These initiatives reflect leadership's directive to mobilize resources in fulfilling Saudi Arabia's mission to serve guests of the Two Holy Mosques excellently.
