LNG Supply To Egypt: QatarEnergy And Egyptian Ministry Sign MoU

QatarEnergy and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) plan LNG flows, after QatarEnergy agreed to supply up to 24 LNG cargoes to Egypt during the summer of 2026, under a framework that also opens talks on long-term gas deliveries.

That trade sits within a MoU between QatarEnergy and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Egypt, signed during a special ceremony at QatarEnergy's Doha headquarters by Saad Sherida Al Kaabi and Karim Badawi to deepen cooperation in the energy sector.

Under the MoU, both sides intend to expand collaboration in natural gas and other energy activities, with special emphasis on long-term LNG supplies from QatarEnergy to Egypt, supporting the country's industrial and economic needs while maintaining secure fuel sources for summers.

According to Qatar News Agency, Minister of State for Energy Affairs, President and CEO of QatarEnergy Saad Sherida Al Kaabi spoke about the agreement at the signing, stating, "We are pleased to further enhance our cooperation with the Arab Republic of Egypt. This agreement builds on our recent successful cooperation with Egypt particularly with respect to the supply of LNG from QatarEnergy's portfolio."

Al Kaabi highlighted the relationship with Egypt, adding, "This MoU further strengthens our bilateral relationship as we work jointly towards additional supplies of long-term LNG from QatarEnergy to meet Egypt's growing demand for energy to fuel its robust economic and industrial growth. We look forward to collaborating with the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and with all our partners in Egypt to further strengthen our cooperation and to support Egypt with its future LNG requirements."

QatarEnergy and EGAS now plan discussions on long-term LNG arrangements for Egypt, with the MoU providing a structured basis for continued cooperation as Egypt manages energy demand and gas requirements.
