Qatar’s Labour Minister Lauds UAE’s Emiratisation Achievements In Private Sector
Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, recently welcomed Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri, Minister of Labour of Qatar, along with his delegation from the Qatari Ministry of Labour, to the UAE. This visit marks a significant step in strengthening the bilateral relations between the UAE and Qatar, particularly in the sectors of human resources development and labour.
The meeting served as a platform for both parties to explore avenues for collaboration and to share best practices in labour market management. The presence of key officials from both countries, including Khalil Al Khoori, Undersecretary for Human Resources Affairs at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE); Ayesha Belharfia, the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Emiratisation Affairs; Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council; and Sheikha Najwa Al Thani, Assistant Undersecretary for Migrant Labour Affairs at the Qatari Ministry of Labour, underscored the meeting's importance.
The Qatari delegation was introduced to the Nafis programme among other initiatives aimed at boosting Emiratisation in the private sector. They reviewed a wide array of legislation and decisions designed to support this cause. The discussion also covered the UAE's efforts in enhancing the competitiveness of Emirati professionals in the labour market, showcasing significant achievements.
Moreover, the meeting shed light on the UAE's labour market monitoring processes, awareness-raising activities, inspection practices, and its social protection system. Special attention was given to the programme dedicated to protecting workers' entitlements in the private sector. The procedures for settling labour disputes in the UAE were also examined, alongside the latest outcomes of continuous efforts to refine and develop the legislative ecosystem of the UAE labour market to make it more appealing to international talent and Emirati professionals alike.
