Qatar Commences Construction On National Pavilion For Expo 2025 In Osaka

Qatar has officially started construction on its national pavilion for the Expo 2025 Osaka, set to take place in Kansai, Japan, next year. This initiative underlines the theme "Designing Future Society for Our Lives", showcasing a commitment to fostering a future-oriented society through collaboration and innovation.

The design of the pavilion, a collaborative effort between Qatar Museums and Kengo Kuma & Associates, covers an area of 1,292 sq m. It draws inspiration from the cultural symbiosis between Qatari and Japanese traditions, particularly in the use of wood in construction and fabric in interior design, reflecting the deep-rooted maritime heritage and architectural sophistication shared by the two nations.

The foundation stone of the pavilion was laid in a ceremony attended by key figures including Jaber Jaralla Al Marri, Qatari Ambassador to Japan and Commissioner-General of the State of Qatar at Expo 2025, and Sheikh Ali Alwaleed Al Thani, Deputy Commissioner-General and Chairman of Qatar's expo preparation committee, among other senior officials.

Jaber Jaralla Al Marri highlighted the significance of Qatar's participation in the Expo as a testament to the strong, cooperative ties with Japan, celebrating over five decades of a flourishing strategic partnership. The Expo, running from April 13 to October 13, will explore themes centered on "Saving Lives, Empowering Lives, and Connecting Lives."

"We are delighted to be part of this event which offers an opportunity to strengthen and foster economic and social links not only between the two friendly countries but also with other nations participating in the exhibition," Al Marri remarked, emphasizing the importance of Qatar's engagement in matters of regional and global significance.

Sheikh Ali Al Thani detailed the ambitions for Qatar's pavilion at the exhibition, noting its aim to present a high-level, innovative design coupled with advanced equipment. The pavilion is set to showcase Qatar's extensive history, dynamic present, and promising future across various sectors.

"This endeavor also presents an opportunity to spotlight the country's developmental milestones, promoting Qatar as both a prime tourism destination and an attractive hub for global businesses and investors across diverse economic sectors," Sheikh Ali added, underscoring the pavilion's role in highlighting Qatar's achievements and aspirations on the global stage.

The involvement of Qatar in Expo 2025 Osaka reflects a strategic move to enhance its visibility and influence on the international arena, leveraging the platform to showcase its cultural richness, economic vitality, and innovative contributions to a global audience.
