Qatar Airways Transforms In-Flight Experience With Starlink, Delivering Lightning-Fast Wi-Fi

Qatar Airways has taken a significant leap in enhancing its in-flight services by completing the Starlink installation on 54 of its Boeing 777 aircraft, providing the fastest Wi-Fi speeds onboard. Offering up to 500 Mbps Wi-Fi speeds, passengers can now enjoy unparalleled internet connectivity, matching or surpassing what they might experience at home.

Accelerating its commitment to improving passenger experience, Qatar Airways executed the Starlink installation programme in just nine months, slashing the initially planned two-year schedule by half. This efficiency was achieved by reducing the retrofit time for each aircraft from three days to a mere 9.5 hours, thereby enabling the airline to upgrade its fleet without impacting its daily operations.

Following the success of integrating Starlink technology into its Boeing 777 fleet, Qatar Airways is now setting its sights on its Airbus A350 aircraft. The airline aims to outfit this part of its fleet with Starlink within the next year, expanding its high-speed connectivity services across more routes globally. This move is in line with Qatar Airways’ strategy of offering a cutting-edge, in-flight experience to its passengers traversing its extensive network of over 170 destinations worldwide.

Since the debut of the world's first Starlink-equipped Boeing 777 in October 2024, Qatar Airways has conducted over 15,000 flights featuring the high-speed internet service. This milestone reflects the airline's ongoing efforts to redefine air travel by incorporating the latest technological advancements. The introduction of Starlink has been a game-changer in achieving this goal, enabling Qatar Airways to provide its passengers with an unmatched in-flight connectivity experience.
