Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Qassim Region, praised the Green Qassim Land Initiative for planting five million trees. This effort is part of the larger Saudi Green Initiative (SGI). During a recent meeting with involved parties, he acknowledged the contributions of both government and private sectors, especially highlighting the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture's (MEWA) Qassim branch and the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC).

The governor admired MEWA's and NCVC's innovative strategies in using materials seized from environmental offenders for reforestation projects. These efforts are notably evident in the Qassim National Park. He emphasized the region's dedication to improving vegetation cover and protecting the environment. The initiative reflects a significant environmental milestone achieved through collaborative efforts.

Qassim Region Plants 5 Million Trees Successfully

Eng. Salman Al Suwainea, Director-General of MEWA's Qassim branch, confirmed that the initiative has advanced through various collaboration stages with governmental and non-profit organizations. This progress aligns with SGI's objectives. The initiative plays a crucial role in enhancing environmental sustainability within the region.

Ali Al-Asmari, Director of NCVC's Qassim branch, detailed their support for the Green Qassim Land Initiative. They have planted over 1.165 million trees in national parks and identified 442 environmental regulation violations in 2024. These efforts are part of a broader plan to plant five million trees by 2030.

The ongoing activities include land reclamation and seed scattering throughout the region. These actions aim to further enhance vegetation cover and contribute to environmental protection goals set by SGI.

The commitment to these initiatives underscores a regional focus on sustainable development practices. By repurposing confiscated materials for reforestation, they demonstrate an innovative approach to combating desertification while promoting ecological balance.
