Protein Alternatives Initiative To Enhance Food Innovation Ecosystem At Global Food Week 2025

The upcoming Global Food Week will feature the Protein Alternatives (PALT) initiative as a major highlight. Organised by ADNEC Group with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, PALT will be held at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi from 21st to 23rd October, 2025. This initiative aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem for alternative proteins, uniting innovators, companies, regulators, investors, academics, and infrastructure players to promote innovative food production systems.

Ahmad Shaker, CEO of Capital 360 and Events under ADNEC Group, expressed the significance of partnering with ADIO for PALT during GFW 2025. He stated that this collaboration supports national efforts to enhance food security. "Innovation in the food sector is one of the main drivers of a more resilient and diversified future," he said. The event highlights Abu Dhabi's role in developing advanced ecosystems that integrate knowledge, technology, and investment in key sectors like alternative foods.

Boosting Food Innovation with Protein Alternatives

PALT will serve as a global platform to tackle challenges and explore opportunities in alternative proteins. Discussions will focus on four strategic areas: improving regulatory frameworks for quicker market access; increasing financing options for global expansion from Abu Dhabi; exploring innovative foods' role in addressing global hunger; and enhancing collaboration among Abu Dhabi stakeholders to drive food innovation.

Fatima Al Dhaheri, Director of AGWA at the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, noted that integrating PALT into GFW 2025 sets a clear path for innovation in alternative proteins. She highlighted ADIO’s AGWA Cluster as a key platform for driving innovation and establishing Abu Dhabi as a hub where ideas and investments converge to advance the zero-hunger agenda.

Showcasing Modern Food Innovations

GFW 2025 will present cutting-edge innovations in the food industry such as plant-based proteins, cultivated meat, and fermented proteins. It offers a unique chance to see how modern science and technology are transforming the food ecosystem from production to consumption. This event underscores changing consumer behaviours reshaping how we view food.

By hosting PALT within GFW 2025, Abu Dhabi strengthens its leadership in shaping the future of food. The initiative aligns with UAE’s vision by enhancing food security, diversifying the economy, and fostering innovative solutions. This commitment reflects Abu Dhabi's dedication to advancing sustainable practices within the global food landscape.
