Sharjah Ruler Inaugurates Prophet’s Neighbours Endowment Project For Orphan Support
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the "Prophet’s Neighbours" endowment project. This initiative by the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation aims to support orphans. Located in Aljada, it is the first in a series of endowments. The project site was donated by His Highness and spans 932 square metres.
The construction will feature a 15-storey building with 75 apartments, covering an area of 13,835 square metres. Revenue generated will aid beneficiaries. His Highness pressed a button to officially launch the project, marking a significant step in charitable endowment work. A visual presentation highlighted the project's benefits for attendees.
Addressing the orphans supported by the Foundation, Sheikh Dr. Sultan encouraged them to focus on education. He assured them that all educational paths are open, from schools to universities, and promised job opportunities upon graduation. His Highness stated: "We are with you, and before God, we have accepted this responsibility."
Sheikh Dr. Sultan emphasised the importance of youth and children’s centres in Sharjah. These centres aim to nurture both physical and intellectual growth among young people. He urged orphans to participate actively in these activities for their development.
The Ruler of Sharjah called for increased environmental awareness during his speech. He stressed the importance of planting and caring for trees due to their role in sustaining life and purifying air. "A tree is like a mother who nurtures her children," he said, urging everyone to befriend trees.
At the event's conclusion, His Highness warmly greeted each orphan from the Foundation. They expressed gratitude for his continuous care and generous support. Group photos were taken with them as a commemoration of this special occasion.
Inspiring Leadership and Future Initiatives
Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi praised His Highness’ actions in a recorded speech. She noted how his words inspire hearts and minds: "The words of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi continue to inspire hearts and minds." She highlighted his supportive presence as motivation for orphans.
Sheikha Jameela added that since its inception, the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation has empowered orphans by building confidence and ensuring sustainable futures. The "Prophet’s Neighbours" project is seen as a noble beginning under His Highness' guidance.
Cultural Significance and Community Engagement
The name "Prophet’s Neighbours" derives from a Hadith of Prophet Muhammad PBUH about caring for orphans: "The one who cares for an orphan...will be with me in Paradise like this." This reflects Islam's high regard for orphan care, promising closeness to the Prophet in Paradise.
The Foundation offers official waqf certificates to contributors of "Prophet’s Neighbours." Various flexible contribution options accommodate different donor preferences. Present at the inauguration were Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Mona bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, and other senior officials.
