Saudi Arabia: Prophet's Mosque Enhances Facilities And Services During Ramadan 2025

As Ramadan 2025 approaches, the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah is gearing up to welcome a significant increase in worshippers with a comprehensive operational blueprint aimed at enhancing the overall experience.

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has outlined a series of upgrades and services, ranging from prayer arrangements and crowd management to maintenance and accessibility improvements. This initiative underscores the Mosque's commitment to providing an environment that is both welcoming and well-organised for the thousands of faithful expected during the Holy Month.

To ensure that the needs of worshippers are met with compassion and efficiency, various support services have been introduced. Families visiting the mosque will find solace in the children's hospitality center located in the northern courtyard, designed to offer assistance and care. Additionally, the mosque has bolstered its service centers, staffing them with knowledgeable personnel ready to guide and assist international visitors, ensuring they navigate the mosque's facilities with ease.

In anticipation of the heightened attendance, robust crowd management strategies have been implemented. Security and mosque staff will play a pivotal role in directing the flow of worshippers, using organized entry and exit routes to alleviate congestion. The mosque's operating hours have been extended to accommodate the Taraweeh and

Qiyam prayers, allowing everyone ample opportunity to partake in these spiritual rituals. Special attention has also been given to Al Rawdah Al Sharifa and the tombs of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Abu Bakr, and Umar, with specific entry and exit pathways established to streamline movement and enhance the prayer experience.

Amidst the spiritual ambiance of Ramadan, the mosque will uphold an exceptional level of cleanliness. A significant sanitation and hygiene initiative has been launched, featuring 161 cleaning vehicles for continuous floor washing and the installation of 27,000 carpets to provide a clean prayer setting. The mosque premises will undergo cleaning and sanitization five times a day, complemented by the aromatic presence of incense perfuming the air four times daily.

Technological and Infrastructure Upgrades

The mosque's infrastructure has seen substantial upgrades to better accommodate the influx of worshippers. A total of 2,782 restrooms have been renovated and expanded, along with the addition of 180 escalators and 25 elevators, facilitating easier access for the elderly and those with disabilities.

The allocation of 300 wheelchairs and the provision of 30,000 chairs for elderly worshippers further underscore the mosque's commitment to inclusivity and comfort for all visitors. Moreover, new public restrooms have been introduced in the western courtyards, enhancing the mosque's facilities.

To enrich the spiritual journey of those attending prayers, significant improvements have been made to the mosque's lighting, sound, and information systems. A total of 138,560 lights have been installed to brighten the interior and courtyards, while 6,060 loudspeakers ensure prayers and announcements are heard clearly. The addition of 114 electronic screens across the mosque will display real-time prayer schedules and visitor guidelines, keeping everyone well-informed.

With these extensive preparations, the Prophet's Mosque in Medina is set to provide an unparalleled experience for worshippers during Ramadan 2025. The strategic operational plan, focusing on cleanliness, accessibility, and efficient crowd management, aims to ensure a serene and smooth experience for all attendees.
