Prophet's Mosque Undergoes Extensive Cleaning, Covering Over 1.3 Million Sq Meters

In Madinah, a comprehensive cleaning and sterilization initiative is underway at the Prophet's Mosque, involving 1,490 workers who are dedicated to maintaining the sanctity and cleanliness of this revered site throughout Ramadan. This effort is part of an operational plan by the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Prophet's Mosque, employing state-of-the-art devices, automated equipment, and eco-friendly materials to ensure a pristine environment for worshippers.

The scope of this massive undertaking covers over 1.378 million square meters, encompassing both the interior and exterior courtyards as well as the rooftop of the mosque. The focus is particularly intense during peak periods before iftar and immediately after the Maghrib prayer. Workers are tasked with washing, sterilizing, and disinfecting floors and carpets, alongside regular cleaning of service facilities. This rigorous schedule is designed to offer a healthy and safe environment for all visitors, ensuring air quality and cooling systems are optimal for prayer times.

One of the highlights of this operation is the use of a robot equipped with artificial intelligence for cleaning tasks in the courtyards. This robot, controlled via a special panel that guides it along predetermined paths for washing and mopping, is equipped with a camera to navigate without hindering pedestrian traffic. Each cleaning session with this advanced device lasts between two to four hours.

Post-iftar times see an intensification of these efforts, with expectations set for field teams to fulfill over 16,900 maintenance and service requests throughout Ramadan. This meticulous attention to detail underscores the commitment to providing a serene and clean environment for worship at one of Islam's most sacred sites.
