Sheikh Nahyan Launches 'Preparing 100 Emirati Healthcare Leaders' Programme To Enhance National Healthcare Leadership
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, attended the launch of the "Preparing 100 Emirati Healthcare Leaders" programme. This initiative was introduced by American Hospital Dubai in collaboration with Harvard Business Impact. The event took place at the Museum of the Future in Dubai and aims to nurture a new generation of Emirati leaders in healthcare.
The programme is designed to equip participants with both academic knowledge and practical experience. It seeks to prepare them for leadership roles in the UAE's healthcare sector. The initiative aligns with "UAE Vision 2031," aiming to enhance the competitiveness of the national healthcare system.
Sheikh Nahyan highlighted the importance of international cooperation, noting that the UAE shares global challenges and opportunities in healthcare. He emphasised that under wise leadership, the UAE looks to future needs through global partnerships to advance its healthcare system for patients, doctors, and society.
He expressed gratitude to Harvard University representatives for their collaboration in launching this programme. He also praised American Hospital Dubai’s efforts to strengthen the national healthcare system. Sheikh Nahyan hopes this programme will develop participants' capabilities and prepare them as leaders providing world-class services.
The programme combines academic training with three months of field experience in UAE hospitals. It concludes with a visit to Mayo Clinic in the United States, where participants will learn about global best practices in healthcare leadership and management.
Andrew Spencer from Harvard Business Impact described it as an exceptional model of international cooperation. He stated that it allows young Emirati leaders to blend academic knowledge with practical experience, enhancing the UAE’s ability to lead globally in healthcare.

The launch event was attended by notable figures such as Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Dr Alawi Sheikh Ali, and Aisha Abdullah Miran. The programme aims to create sustainable leadership through advanced development journeys combining global academic insights with intensive fieldwork.
Sheikh Nahyan noted that this pioneering programme reflects American Hospital Dubai’s belief in Emiratis’ role within healthcare. He appreciated Harvard University guests for launching a programme prioritising human health amidst modern developments.

Sherif Beshara, CEO of Mohammed & Obaid Al Mulla Group and American Hospital Dubai, stated that launching this programme is a national commitment requiring collaboration across public and private sectors. He stressed that Emiratis leading from decision-making positions are crucial for sustaining jobs and public health security.
Beshara affirmed that this initiative offers a platform for producing leaders capable of steering UAE’s healthcare sector toward global excellence. The sustainability of thousands of jobs depends on Emiratis guiding this sector into a promising future.
Sheikh Nahyan emphasised that President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan values human capital development within healthcare. Proper qualification requires adopting systems balancing professional capabilities with effective delivery needs.
