The Saudi Falcons Club is set to host the King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival 2024 from December 3 to 19 at its headquarters in Malham, north of Riyadh. This event, known as the largest global falconry gathering, will attract falconers from Saudi Arabia and beyond. Participants will compete in Al-Mellwah (falcon racing) and Mazayen (falcon beauty pageant) events.

Talal AlShamaisi, CEO of the Saudi Falcons Club, stated that the festival aims to promote falconry as a cultural pastime while preserving this Arab tradition. The club seeks to position falconry as a significant heritage tourism attraction, fostering national pride and engaging youth in spirited competition. The festival also supports environmental conservation and wildlife protection efforts.

King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival Begins December

The festival has been recognized by Guinness World Records three times for hosting the largest gathering of falcons globally. This year’s event will last 17 days, featuring 138 rounds with over 900 prizes worth SAR 36 million. Besides the main competitions, various accompanying events will enhance the festival experience.

Walid Al-Taweel, the official spokesman for the Saudi Falcons Club, highlighted the Falconer of the Future Pavilion as a key attraction. This pavilion aims to educate young falconers through interactive activities that blend modern technology with traditional falconry knowledge and techniques. It serves as an educational hub for future generations.

The festival will also feature 10 internal pavilions showcasing falconry gear and hunting equipment. These pavilions offer visitors an authentic yet adventurous experience. The Al-Mellwah competition includes 49 qualifying rounds, while Mazayen features six rounds for internationally sourced falcons and special rounds for young falconers.

Celebrating Falconry's Rich Heritage

Participants will vie for prestigious awards such as the King Abdulaziz Cups and the coveted King’s Sword.
