Powering The Future Toward Net Zero Forum In Dammam To Address Energy Strategies And Innovations

The Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) is hosting the International Forum "Powering the Future Toward Net Zero" in Dammam on October 27. This event, organised with partners like the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), GO15, and Med-TSO, is under the patronage of Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern region.

Eng. Ahmed Al Ebrahim, CEO of GCCIA, highlighted that the forum will focus on strategies for achieving net-zero emissions in the energy sector. Discussions will centre on enhancing regional grid infrastructure to support a reliable and affordable zero-emissions future. The event aims to accelerate decarbonisation through global collaboration and innovation.

Net Zero Forum Begins Tomorrow in Dammam

A key theme at the forum will be strengthening regional grid infrastructure to meet net-zero targets. Participants will explore technologies for grid improvement and discuss modern planning and operational capabilities. These are crucial for enhancing grid resilience, affordability, and adapting to market shifts necessary for supporting the energy transition.

Emerging technologies in artificial intelligence (AI), grid operations, and planning will also be discussed. Experts from GCCIA, GO15, Med-TSO, and EPRI will lead these discussions. They aim to cover critical topics such as grid planning, market reforms, AI's role in grid operations, and deploying advanced grid technologies.

The forum will feature insights from CEOs, advisors, and government representatives from regions including the GCC, North America, Europe, and Asia. Their contributions are expected to provide diverse perspectives on strategies for a sustainable energy transition. This comprehensive exploration aims to ensure a reliable shift towards sustainable energy practices.

This year's forum builds on successful Energy Storage Forums held in 2022 and 2023. It promises to be a significant platform for advancing discussions about the future of the energy sector. The focus will be on technology advancement, market development, regional interconnections, storage solutions, and resource adequacy for achieving a net-zero grid.

The event is set to foster collaboration among global energy leaders by encouraging dialogue on these critical issues. By bringing together experts from various fields and regions, it aims to drive forward-thinking solutions for a sustainable energy future.
