Tadej Pogačar Dominates Stage 19 At Isola 2000, Tour De France
Tadej Pogačar of UAE Team Emirates once again showcased his prowess in the Tour de France by clinching victory in stage 19. This stage, spanning 144.6 km from Embrun to Isola 2000, included challenging climbs such as the Col de la Bonnette and a summit finish.
At 8.7 km from the finish line, Pogačar launched an attack from the group of favourites. His team had expertly managed the gap from the day's main breakaway. At that point, six riders from the breakaway were still ahead, with Matteo Jorgenson (Visma-Lease a Bike) leading by 2’40".

Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) and Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step) couldn't keep up with Pogačar's pace. The Slovenian rider embarked on a solo mountain time trial, overtaking all six riders ahead of him. By the time he reached 1,900 metres to the finish, he was leading alone.
Pogačar expressed his satisfaction with his team's performance: "My teammates and I have talked already of how badly we wanted to race this day, and we raced as we said, setting everything up to the point when I attacked. It was perfect." He admitted feeling exhausted in the final two kilometres but managed to push through.
Matteo Jorgenson finished second, trailing Pogačar by 21 seconds. João Almeida secured seventh place at 2 minutes behind, reinforcing his fourth position in the General Classification (GC). Pogačar's victory marked his fourth stage win in this year's Grande Boucle.
Pogačar will approach stage 20 with a significant lead of 5’03" over Vingegaard and 7’01" over Evenepoel. This next stage covers 132.8 km from Nice to Col de la Couillole, featuring climbs like Col de Braus, Col du Turini, and Col de la Colmiane.
Reflecting on his effort to overtake Jorgenson and others, Pogačar said: "When I caught Carapaz and Simon Yates, I felt I was already on my limit. Then I saw Matteo and pushed through to overtake him at great speed. That killed my legs, and I was afraid that he might come back to outsprint me."
The Slovenian cyclist's determination paid off as he enjoyed every pedal stroke towards his solo victory at Isola 2000. His performance not only secured another stage win but also solidified his dominance in this year's race.
Pogačar's remarkable ride demonstrated both individual brilliance and effective teamwork by UAE Team Emirates. Their strategy ensured they controlled the race dynamics perfectly until their leader made his decisive move.
This latest triumph adds another highlight to Pogačar's impressive career at the Tour de France. As he heads into stage 20 with a comfortable lead, fans eagerly anticipate whether he can maintain this momentum through the remaining stages.
