Poetic Knights Showcase Talent At Riyadh International Book Fair's Mathayel Competition

The Riyadh International Book Fair, under the theme "Riyadh Reads," hosted a captivating evening of Nabati poetry through the "Mathayel" competition. Organised by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, this event drew a large audience eager to experience the poetic talents of finalists from the Qatar Poetry Center. The evening was moderated by Abdul Hamid Al-Yousef and featured poets like Shabib Al-Nuaimi and Mubarak Al-Khalifa.

Shabib Al-Nuaimi, Director of the Qatar Poetry Center, opened with a poem celebrating camels. This piece resonated deeply as it was recited during the "Year of the Camel," highlighting its cultural significance in Arabian heritage. The audience was treated to diverse themes ranging from artistic depictions of camels to verses on loyalty, trust, love, pride, and struggle.

The event underscored Nabati poetry's role in preserving Arabian Peninsula culture. It showcased how this art form bridges past traditions with contemporary expressions. The poets' performances extended late into the night, maintaining an electric atmosphere that captivated attendees long after the final verses were shared.
