Phygital Football Tournament To Showcase Elite Clubs In Abu Dhabi This July
The summer will see Abu Dhabi host a unique football event, where top clubs aim for a spot in the Games of the Future 2025. The 'Phygital Contenders: Abu Dhabi – Football' tournament is set from 25 to 29 July at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). ASPIRE, with Ethara and Phygital International, is organising this event.
Twenty-four elite clubs worldwide will compete, representing regions like North and Latin America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Noteworthy teams include Team Joga from the USA and LPT Venezuela, who are defending champions from the Games of the Future 2024 side tournament. This event concludes a year-long international tournament season.

The tournament follows competitions like Phygital Origins and Phygital Rivals. Abu Dhabi becomes the final stage before the Games of the Future 2025, scheduled for 18–23 December in the UAE capital. Only top-performing clubs will advance to this prestigious event, vying for global champion status.
Nis Hatt, CEO of Phygital International, stated, "Phygital Contenders: Abu Dhabi – Football represents the culmination of a season-long qualification process and will set the stage for what promises to be the most competitive Games of the Future to date." He highlighted growing global interest in phygital sports as they evolve into a legitimate athletic discipline.
Stephane Timpano, CEO of ASPIRE, remarked on hosting this event in Abu Dhabi as both an opportunity and responsibility. "Bringing Phygital Contenders to Abu Dhabi is both a tremendous opportunity and a meaningful responsibility. Abu Dhabi has always championed bold, forward-looking ideas, and phygital sport is no exception," he said.
Abu Dhabi's role as host underscores its commitment to innovative ideas. The city will welcome elite clubs for intense competition over five days. This event will determine which teams advance to December's main competition.
