UAE Foreign Minister Engages In Bilateral Talks With Philippines President
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. of the Republic of the Philippines welcomed H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, at Malacañang Palace in Manila. The First Lady of the Philippines, Louise Araneta-Marcos, was also in attendance.
During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah conveyed greetings from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to President Marcos, along with wishes for progress and prosperity for the Philippines and its people. President Marcos reciprocated with his greetings and appreciation to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, expressing hopes for continued prosperity and well-being for the UAE and its citizens. He emphasised the strong relationship between the two nations.
The meeting, held today as part of Sheikh Abdullah's working visit to Manila, focused on bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation between the UAE and the Philippines. The discussions aimed at serving mutual interests and benefiting both populations. The leaders also reviewed the progress of their ties as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations established on 19th August 1974.
Both sides discussed cooperation within international organisations. Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the UAE's aspiration to build strong relations with the Philippines, supporting both countries' development plans. He noted a shared desire to develop cooperation towards broader growth and development horizons.
Particularly, they aim to reach a comprehensive economic partnership agreement that would boost cooperation momentum, especially in trade and investment sectors. The UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed deep appreciation for the Filipino community in the UAE, acknowledging their role in supporting the country's development plans across various sectors.
The meeting was attended by Mohamed Obaid Alqataam Alzaabi, UAE Ambassador to the Philippines, and Saeed Mubarak Al Hajri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs.
