The fifty-third session of the Permanent Finance Committee, in preparation for the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers, took place at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) General Secretariat in Jeddah. Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha expressed gratitude to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their ongoing support to the organization.
He also extended thanks to Cameroon for leading the previous session and congratulated Turkiye on its upcoming presidency. The session's agenda includes discussions on the General Secretariat's budget and subsidiary organs for 2026, along with strategies to increase contributions.

Taha highlighted significant initiatives addressing humanitarian crises in Gaza, Sudan, and Afghanistan. These efforts extend to economic cooperation, scientific collaboration, cultural engagement, and social work. He emphasized that these achievements were possible due to effective resource management by the committee.
The Secretary-General acknowledged member states' unwavering support, which has been crucial for the organization's success. He noted that without their backing, many initiatives would not have been feasible.
The outcomes from this finance committee meeting will be presented at the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers. This meeting is scheduled for June 2025 in Istanbul, Republic of Turkiye, where final approvals will be sought.
Taha underscored that these discussions are vital for shaping future strategies and ensuring continued progress across various sectors within the OIC framework.
