PCFC And DP World Collaborate With Sharjah Maritime Academy To Launch SANAD Programme For Emirati Maritime Security Development
The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) and DP World have partnered with the Sharjah Maritime Academy (SMA) to introduce "Sanad," a training programme for young Emirati maritime security professionals. This initiative aims to enhance skills in security strategy and risk management over 12-14 months, focusing on ports and maritime transport through both academic study and practical experience.
Under this three-year agreement, the collaboration extends beyond training to include maritime education and research initiatives. These efforts are designed to meet market demands while aligning with the UAE’s national priorities. The emphasis on maritime security is crucial due to its role in protecting economic interests, such as safeguarding infrastructure and ensuring smooth trade through UAE ports.

Nasser Abdulla Al Neyadi, CEO of PCFC and Group Chief Security Officer at DP World, stated: "This cooperation reflects our commitment to empowering national talent and enhancing security capabilities in key economic sectors. It aligns with Dubai’s strategic goals under the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), reinforcing its position as a global centre for trade and logistics through sustainable growth and competitive advantage.''
PCFC and DP World will identify training needs and select participants for the programme. Meanwhile, the Sharjah Maritime Academy will deliver the curriculum, provide expert instructors, and issue accredited certifications. This partnership exemplifies a model of academic and strategic integration aimed at developing human capital in line with UAE's vision.
The Academy boasts state-of-the-art laboratories, simulation rooms, and training facilities that prepare students for real-world maritime challenges. These facilities are crucial for equipping future professionals with skills that align with national strategic objectives. They also enable students to handle diverse weather conditions and security scenarios effectively.
Dr. Hashim Al Zaabi, Director of the Sharjah Maritime Academy, remarked: "This agreement represents a model of academic and strategic integration, supporting the UAE’s vision to develop human capital and promote national leadership in maritime security and education. It is a testament to our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the industry while strengthening the country’s role on both regional and international levels.''
This collaboration between PCFC, DP World, and SMA signifies a significant step towards enhancing maritime security expertise among Emiratis. By focusing on education, research, and practical training, it aims to fortify the UAE's position in global trade while nurturing local talent.
