Khalifa University And Sungrow Join Forces To Advance Clean Energy Research And Innovation
Khalifa University of Science and Technology is committed to enhancing partnerships with top companies and industries in the region. This effort aims to foster research and innovation that tackle climate change, diversify energy sources, and bolster economic sustainability. These initiatives align with the UAE's Energy Strategy 2050, as stated by Professor Ebrahim Al Hajri, President of Khalifa University.
Following a cooperation agreement with Sungrow Middle East, Al Hajri told Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the collaboration focuses on advancing research in sustainable energy. The goal is to develop innovative solutions that aid the transition to clean energy in the region. This partnership underscores Khalifa University's dedication to supporting national efforts for energy sustainability.

The agreement with Sungrow is significant for Khalifa University, reflecting its commitment to producing effective innovations for sustainable development. Collaborating with a prominent company like Sungrow will enhance the university's ability to contribute meaningfully to this field. The partnership also highlights Khalifa University's role as a key player in supporting the UAE's sustainable development goals.
Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Chairman and CEO of Markab Capital Company and a shareholder in Sungrow, emphasised that this agreement is unprecedented in the region. It aims to boost local industries and nurture national expertise. Al Qubaisi noted that over the next five years, a new generation of Emirati engineers and technicians specialising in green energy will emerge, ready to work globally in more than 170 countries.
The signing of this agreement coincided with Khalifa University's participation in the 2025 World Future Energy Summit. During this event, the university showcased eight innovative projects, reinforcing its status as a leading platform for renewable energy innovation. These projects demonstrate Khalifa University's commitment to being at the forefront of global advancements in renewable energy.
"This partnership reflects Khalifa University's role as a leading academic and research centre supporting the UAE's sustainable development goals," said Al Qubaisi. He added that it further solidifies its position as a global innovation hub in renewable energy.
