Pakistan Association Dubai Champions Philanthropy Inspired By UAE’s Values Of Tolerance And Coexistence

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is renowned for its diverse population of over 200 nationalities living together peacefully. This multicultural harmony is mirrored by the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), the largest overseas Pakistani community centre globally, which exemplifies service and inclusivity in the UAE.

Dr. Faisal Ikram, President of PAD, highlighted the association's commitment to promoting the UAE's humanitarian values. He stated that PAD's initiatives aim to unite communities and foster coexistence. "Through our work, we aim to serve humanity beyond borders, reflecting the UAE’s message of compassion and mutual respect," he said.

PAD's efforts are supported by various UAE institutions. The Community Development Authority (CDA) provides strong backing, while the Dubai Department of Finance has granted fee exemptions for the Pakistan Medical Centre (PMC). Additionally, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has issued special volunteer licences for medical professionals at the centre.

The association operates on land gifted by the late H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, symbolising a longstanding friendship between the UAE and Pakistan. Dr. Ikram emphasised that PAD serves not only Pakistanis but also people from various nationalities residing in the country. "Our work is not based on nationality but on humanity," Dr. Ikram affirmed.

Central to PAD's mission is its flagship project, the Pakistan Medical Centre. This non-profit healthcare facility embodies inclusion and service. Since opening in October 2020, it has impacted over 151,400 lives across 37 medical specialties, serving patients from more than 92 nationalities.

Around 50 volunteer doctors contribute their services at this centre, with 75 percent of patients receiving welfare-based care. To date, it has provided over AED 25.5 million worth of subsidised healthcare, showcasing tolerance in action.

Symbolic Achievements

PAD marked the Year of Community by achieving a Guinness World Record for creating a massive human flag composed of 24,400 colourful handprints. Participants from over 100 nationalities took part in this initiative, symbolising the UAE’s enduring spirit of diversity and harmony.

"Through the Pakistan Medical Centre, we serve people from all walks of life," Dr. Ikram said. "It reflects the UAE’s spirit of generosity and compassion." The centre stands as a testament to PAD's dedication to serving humanity without boundaries.
