OpTic Gaming Dominates Vancouver Surge To Secure Black Ops 6 Championship Title

OpTic Gaming from the U.S. emerged victorious in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 championship at the Esports World Cup 2025. They defeated Vancouver Surge from Canada with a decisive 4–0 win in the finals held between July 24 and 27. The tournament included 16 teams globally, competing for a total prize pool of $1,800,000.

Their triumph was significant as OpTic Gaming had finished fourth in the previous year's competition. This year, they showcased a remarkable comeback by leading their group in the initial rounds. They progressed to the finals after defeating North American rivals 100 Thieves with a score of 3–1 in the quarterfinals.

In a thrilling semifinal match, OpTic Gaming narrowly overcame Spain’s Team Heretics with a close 3–2 victory. Their commanding performance in the final secured them not only the championship trophy but also the top prize of $600,000.

This victory also added 1,000 points to their tally in the competitive Club Championship standings. So far, 11 tournaments have concluded this year, each won by different teams, highlighting intense competition.

Mason Ramsey from OpTic Gaming expressed confidence after their semifinal win against Team Heretics. "After beating Team Heretics in the semifinals, we were confident we could win the title if we stuck to our game plan. I’m proud of this achievement," he stated.

Ramsey also commended his teammate Anthony Cuevas-Castro, known as "Shotzzy," who received recognition for his outstanding performance. Shotzzy was awarded the Sony Most Valuable Player (MVP) award along with $10,000.
