Operation Smile UAE Conducts Life-Changing 14th Surgical Programme At Healthpoint
Operation Smile UAE, in collaboration with Healthpoint, an M42 company based in Abu Dhabi, has successfully completed its 14th surgical programme, providing 19 children from various nationalities with free and safe surgeries for cleft lip or cleft palate. This event marks a significant moment in the lives of these children, offering them a chance at a new beginning with a new smile. Since partnering with Operation Smile in 2020, Healthpoint has hosted six missions, transforming the lives of over 73 patients across different age groups.
The two-day surgical programme was supported by the expertise of more than 45 medical professionals, including nurses, pediatricians, surgeons, and anesthetists. These volunteers converged at the multi-specialty hospital to offer their services, complemented by the invaluable assistance of Healthpoint volunteers. This collaboration ensured a comprehensive and effective medical team was in place to carry out the surgeries.

Omar Al Naqbi, Chief Executive Officer of Healthpoint, expressed pride in working alongside Operation Smile UAE. He highlighted the importance of these surgeries in enabling patients to lead healthier and happier lives and commended the dedication of the volunteers in providing exceptional care.
Morag Cromey-Hawke, Executive Director of Operation Smile UAE, acknowledged the significant support from the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi. She emphasized that these surgeries allow patients to eat, drink, speak, and socialize normally, thereby leading healthier and happier lives. Cromey-Hawke also expressed gratitude for having access to Healthpoint's excellent facilities and the generosity extended to the patients.
Since its inception in 2011 under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Alyazia bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, wife of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Operation Smile UAE has played a crucial role in supporting children with cleft conditions within the UAE. The charity has screened over 300 patients and provided surgery followed by comprehensive care—including dental, nutrition, oral health, and speech therapy—to 167 of these patients.
This partnership between Operation Smile UAE and Healthpoint underscores a shared commitment to community service and medical excellence. It highlights the impact that collaborative efforts can have on improving the lives of individuals with medical needs. The continued success of these surgical programmes is a testament to the dedication of all involved parties towards creating a brighter future for children affected by cleft conditions.
