Onshur Fund Invites Applications For Scale Track To Support Publishers' Growth

Publishers now have the chance to apply for the 'Scale Track' of the Sharjah Publishing Sustainability Fund (Onshur). This initiative is designed to help established publishers enhance their operations and broaden their global presence. Interested candidates can register until 28th February 2025 at https://www.onshur.ae/scale-track.

The Onshur Fund, managed by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) in collaboration with the Emirates Publishers Association (EPA) and Sharjah Publishing City (SPC Free Zone), offers three main tracks: Launch, Scale, and Disrupt. These tracks cater to publishers at different stages of their careers, addressing varied needs within the industry.

Onshur Fund Opens Scale Track Applications

The Scale Track is specifically aimed at fostering sustainable growth, innovation, and competitiveness in publishing. This effort reinforces Sharjah's status as a leading global player in the sector. Ahmed Al Ameri, CEO of SBA, emphasised the commitment to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi's vision for nurturing culture and advancing knowledge.

Al Ameri stated: "Sharjah Book Authority, along with all stakeholders in the publishing industry within Sharjah, are committed to upholding the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, which stands as a beacon for nurturing culture and advancing knowledge and creative industries."

To be eligible for the Scale Track, applicants must meet certain criteria. They should have between 5 and 10 years of experience in publishing, a catalog containing 50 to 150 titles, and a stable financial position. Additionally, they must show readiness and ability to expand their operations sustainably.

The selection process involves shortlisting and interviews throughout March 2025. Successful candidates will be announced by month's end. The programme starts mid-April with an intensive four-to-five-week learning experience designed to equip publishers with essential tools and connections for global success.

Selected participants will gain visibility at major publishing events and access funding support.
