Oman Announces Ramadan Timings, Sets Flexible Working Hours To Support Employees
Oman has set the official working hours for employees during the Holy Month of Ramadan. This year, employees working in the units of the state administrative apparatus will have flexible working hours, a decision that aims to accommodate the needs of both employees and the workplace during this significant period.
The official statement revealed, "It was decided that the official working hours for employees during the Holy Month of Ramadan in the units of the state administrative apparatus will be 'flexible working hours', starting from 9 am to 2 pm." This move is designed to offer flexibility and ensure that the workflow is not disrupted while allowing employees to observe Ramadan.
Determining Specific Hours
Further flexibility is provided as the heads of units have been granted the authority to adjust the working hours to best suit the operational needs of their respective units. According to the announcement, "The head of the unit may determine the hours of attendance and dismissal that suit the work of the unit in light of the established working hours as follows: from 7 am to 12 pm, from 8 am to 1 pm, from 9 am to 2 pm, and 10 am to 3 pm." This approach ensures that each unit can maintain efficiency while adapting to the unique requirements of Ramadan.
Private Sector Working Hours
For employees in the private sector, there has also been an adjustment to the working hours during Ramadan. The maximum working hours for Muslim workers in private sector establishments have been set to 6 hours per day or 30 working hours per week. This regulation is in place to ensure that private sector employees also have the opportunity to observe Ramadan without undue pressure from work commitments.
