Oman Plans 60-Metre Ferris Wheel And New Attractions In Dakhliyah
Ambitious plans for 11 new investment projects, including the building of a 60-meter Ferris wheel, the Nizwa Eye, on the busy Dakhliyah Boulevard, will soon give Oman's Dakhliyah region a face-lift in terms of its local economy and tourism. Based on the development of the Nizwa Public Park into a vibrant recreational center, these new attractions will make it even more attractive.
The governorate has tendered a slew of leisure developments at Nizwa Park and Dakhliyah Boulevard, planned to appeal to both residents and tourists alike. Key Highlights of the Plan The area for sports activities will be a vast 12,924 square meters. The skating area will be 1,558 square meters. The sand natural playing area will be 2,068 square meters, developed for children to enjoy nature-based plays.
Zipline: A 235-meter-long thrilling ride that will give an aerial view of the park. Ferris Wheel: The Nizwa Eye will be a 60 meters tall giant Ferris wheel on 260 square meters and is set to become the latest landmark in the region. Other facilities include a trampoline park, equestrian sports facilities, go-kart tracks, and an electronic games area. These projects, whose investment timelines range from five to 25 years, are expected to give Dakhliyah an edge as a major leisure destination.
Authorities are hopeful that this will boost tourism and offer enough job opportunities for the residents. More domestic tourists will flock to the area once new facilities have been added, which will add to the area's appeal in totality. Bids are set to be received by November 28, 2024.

In the first half of 2024, over 84,800 tourists visited Dakhliyah, a growth of 7.37% compared to the same period of the previous year. With these latest additions, Dakhliyah will be even better positioned among Oman's leading tourist destinations, offering a heady mix of history, adventure, and modern leisure.
